Tea is a staple in India. No occasion is complete without a serving of this aromatic blend that owes its origins to the times of Ramayana.
Since those times, the Indian tea-industry has grown manifolds and owns many global tea brands today.
Wagh Bakri is one such brand that produces regular leaf, dust and flavored tea. After Tata Tea and Brooke Bond, it is the third largest packaged tea company in India.
Strong and flavorsome, Wagh Bakri titillates you with a distinct aroma that’s hard to resist. Once a fan always a fan!
In addition to being one the largest tea producers in the world, India is also among the top 5 tea consumers. A number of world-famous teas such as the Assam Tea and Darjeeling Tea are cultivated exclusively in India.
Every household in India has its customized formula meticulously created to satiate those hunger pangs (read tea pangs).
From the spicy ginger-black pepper tea to the highly aromatic cardamom (elaichi) version to the more sweet ‘n’ spicy cinnamon-clove tea or the healthy saunf & holy-basil (Tulsi) variant, tea making techniques have constantly evolved as per mood of its die-hard fans.
Lately, the hip’n’ happening herbal tea has found its niche in the upmarket clientele, no wonder today everyone is swearing by its health benefits.
Such is the affection (or addiction) with this must-have beverage that tea-o-holics have creatively spiked it to suit every season and style. Let's brew some creative concoctions with our favorite Wagh Bakri tea leaves -
- Iced-tea- Add 1/2 tea spoon of loose tea leaves to a large mug of boiling water. Brew it for a minute and let the mixture cool down. Add a dash of lemon and honey/sugar with ice cubes. Savor the super cool drink in style.
- Lemon Tea- It is prepared the same way as the iced tea except that you serve it hot and add 1/2 teaspoon of black salt for a savory taste.
- Traditional Indian Tea- Add one part milk and 2 parts water and bring it to boil in a pan. Add 1/2 teaspoon of loose tea leaves (for one medium sized cup) and boil for a minute. Add sugar as per you taste and enjoy the traditional sweet-milky Indian tea.
- Masala Chai- Masala Chai is brewed the same way as the traditional Indian tea except that you add spices (ginger, cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon, fennel, basil leaves or cloves) and let them simmer with the tea leaves. The aromatic concoction will stir your senses with its distinct taste.
Note: For all these recipes, you have to strain the prepared beverage into a mug to hold back the loose tea leaves and spices.
For an easier option, you can use tea bags instead of loose tea leaves.
Singal’s offers you a variety of easy to make tea bags too.
Take your pick of the sensually spicy Quik Tea Masala Chai & Ginger Chai, or the invigorating Cardamom Chai, or the immunity-booster Organic Tulsi Ginger Tea and Organic Tulsi Green Tea. Sip it for a refreshing morning or enjoy a relaxed evening in the company of these magical brews.
