Wagh Bakri, does this peculiar name strike a chord with you? If yes, then you are for sure a tea enthusiast. Wagh Bakri is a strong aromatic blend of tea leaves that titillates your senses and gives your day a perfect start in the mornings.
Why the name?
The name Wagh Bakri comes from Wagh meaning Tiger and Bakri meaning Goat. Strange name isn’t it, but Wagh Bakri implies balance and harmony. Wagh represents the upper class and Bakri symbolizes the lower class. The logo is a perfect representation that both upper and lower class drink tea from the same cup, thus symbolizing that Wagh Bakri is a perfect leveler that balances the upper and lower class alike.
The popularity of Wagh Bakri
An Indian entrepreneur, Narandas Desai, started the production of Wagh Bakri in 1892, in a 500 acre tea estate in Durban, South Africa. Ever since it has grown exponentially in its popularity. Today, Wagh Bakri is in strong competition with Tata Tea and Brooke Bond and comes a close third in popularity among tea lovers.

For the unversed, no Indian gathering is complete without the serving of the flavorsome beverage, called tea or chai in local parlance. It is no surprise that out of the whole tea produced in the world, 70% is consumed in India.
