The biggest Indian festival of Diwali is coming soon on October 27th 2019. In India, people have already started doing massive decorations of their houses including painting, fancy lighting, diya lamps and colorful Rangolis.

Children are out with their parents in the markets to choose and buy which fireworks to light on the auspicious day. Families are also making their way to sweet shops, who are known to expand well beyond their shops into the streets with tables full of juicy variety of sweets.

Friends and relatives are visiting each other to exchange gifts and offer their blessings and wishes to each other. Women are also especially busy choosing beautiful outfits for the big festival both for themselves and for their families.

Hindus believe that on Diwali (27 Oct this year), Goddess Laxmi visits their home. Goddess Laxmi is the symbol of wealth and prosperity. On Diwali there is a special prayer that the family holds together at their home or place of work. In the past few years, many people also gamble on Diwali night to try their luck with wealth on this day. What are your plans this Diwali?
